  • Jan and I want to thank you for our time with you and allowing us to be part of a world of style, class and charm. When you meet people such as the two of you and by extension David, Jill, Jeremy and Caro, you can feel your own life expanding. You have also shown us that even though you have lived lives of immense value, you need not take oneself seriously. Sharon, we cannot say enough about your kind and generous nature. Your openness and emotional depth touched us both. Eddie, our conversations were like seminars on how to be a man of reason and at the same time a man of duty. You exemplify, at least to me, the type of man who sees his service to his country as a privilege. I do feel honored to have met you and know you. Again, thank you for sharing your home lives with us.  K and J.

  • I can’t thank you enough for the hospitality you provided us on our recent visit. You and Edward are the ultimate Host and Hostess. Our room was superb and the food was wonderful and abundant. And, we so much enjoyed the tours of the tapestry and the beaches. Edwards explanations of the event were outstanding and detailed. All in all our visit to Chateau de Beaulieu was wonderful and I will recommend it to anyone traveling to Normandy.

  • Again, thank you for your hospitality and friendship.

    With warm regards,
    D and A

  • Many thanks again for an amazing experience. It's hard to know where to start in recounting what all we did.

    L+H B

Sending sincere thanks for the photos and for our exciting adventure!  I still can't believe I climbed to the top of Mont St-Michel and I'm still smiling! ... your introduction to the tapestry helped us get so much more out of our viewing. ... we learned so much from our tour.  It certainly fulfilled a dream for L to see the D-Day beaches. B+L

  • Now that we’ve been home a while and had a chance to more fully digest the incredible richness of our visit to France, we’ve realized even more fully than we did at the time how incredibly lucky we were to have stayed with you and had you as our guides to the Normandy Beaches.

  • Our visit with you was one of the real high points of our trip, from the beauty of your home (and our room!) to the fabulous meals you served and treated us to, to the incomparable job you both did of providing the historical context for all that we saw. To say nothing of your both being warm and welcoming hosts!

We have wholeheartedly recommended your tour to everyone we’ve spoken to who is contemplating a visit to France. Hopefully we’ll manage to send a bit of additional business your way!

Thank you again for everything!  Warmest regards, S and A B

  • Sharon and Eddie, very many thanks for an outstanding day.

They are men of few words but D made a point of telling me that you had made a dream come true for him by arranging the tour as you did.

  • Thanks so much for the wonderful tour you gave us last Wed. You were so informative and congenial. We learned so much... You are an excellent guide!

We also appreciated the info before our trip which mostly came from Sharon. Your advice on Mont St Michel was exactly what we needed to know. I have sent your link and our recommendations to our travel agent. We will have to work on Rick Steves next!

    Thanks again.

  • Just wanted to say Thank You again for a very remarkable and memorable trip of a life time. Everyone was talking about our great adventure all the way home and when I have contacted them over this past week we are still raving about it. You are both extremely gracious hosts and we are so appreciative of all your efforts to make our trip so exceptional. Merci beaucoup!

  • We stayed at the Château de Beaulieu for 2 nights with Sharon and Eddie Parks. Not only did we learn an incredible amount of history in the company of Eddie on his D-Day landing tour but we also found out that staying as guests in a chambre d'hote can be like staying with friends in wonderful surroundings and excellent company. Our room (the Asian room) was spacious, luxurious, with excellent bathroom facilities and beautiful views. Both Sharon and Eddie went out of their way to make us feel at home and their personal attention to detail in every way is unsurpassed. We have stayed in many places around the world and we can honestly say that this is the most friendly place we have ever stayed. We will definitely go back to visit here. The surrounding area is full of history and between them I doubt there is very little Sharon and Eddie can't tell you about the D-Day landings and local history.

  • The Château is a beautiful old manor house which is a wonderful departure from staying in generic hotels. The Château is beautifully situated approximately 30 minutes outside of St. Mere Eglise, in the heart of Normandy. The rooms are comfortable, and inviting. However, this pales in comparison to the lovely hosts of this Château, Sharon and Eddie Parks. Eddie and Sharon go out of their way to make their guests comfortable. They have a depth of knowledge about the Normandy sites that is unparalleled. Eddie is a Royal Marine who is a true military hero with a passion for military history. Although we booked tours before knowing that they offered tours, I am sure that their tours are some of the absolute best in the area. As an experienced traveller, who has stayed in France many times, this is one of the rare gems that travellers lust to find. I most highly recommend staying here.

  • A group of us took over the Château in early September. The property is lovely the rooms have all been modernized but retain the charm of the Château. Eddie and Sharon are very hospitable and work extremely hard at pleasing their guests. Eddie did a full day tour for us of the Normandy beaches and as he is a recently retired military man, he has researched his subject well and goes in to a lot more detail than your average tour. In fact, he gave us a slide presentation of the background to D-Day so we would better understand what we were seeing. Sharon cooked a main meal for us which was first class and the breakfasts were typically French with fresh baguettes and croissants. Most of our group have already said they plan to return which says it all. 10 out of 10!

  • My family stayed here in August and loved it (even the 2 teen girls). Eddie did a fantastic job on a tour of the D-day beaches and I can't imagine a better one, and Sharon did an equally good job on a tour of Mt St Michel. I would highly recommend them, and if you can stay in the Château, all the better.

  • I spent several stellar days at the Château de Beaulieu this past summerwhile travelling in France with my teenaged nephew, who made his one and only unqualified statement about the trip when he said of our time with Edward and Sharon, "That was great!" The Château was a terrific place to stay, with roomy-yet-cosy bedrooms, each of which has its own totally modernized en suite bathroom. Château de Beaulieu would be an ideal setting for family or friends for a group getaway. Edward took us on a full-day tour of the Normandy beaches (truly a full day: we left the Château at about 9am and didn't return until after 6pm, stopping for an excellent seaside restaurant lunch which was included in the tour price) and had fascinating things to say at every turn. We also had a morning tour with Sharon of the nearby Château de Pirou and thoroughly enjoyed her medieval background talk. I wish we'd had time for a longer stay and hope to return soon.

  • Lt Col and Mrs Eddie Parks are superb hosts and guides of this area of Normandy. My husband and I are experienced, mature travellers but after speaking with the Parks on the phone we decided to not only stay at the Château but also allow them, with some input from us, to arrange our itinerary. The tours were well planned, personal, informative and fun. The stay at this renovated, charming Château was very pleasant and serene. The whole package was perfect and we would return again if we decide to see more of the area. Lt Col Parks is newly retired from the British Marines as a career officer and his wife Sharon is a history buff. They do it all including the cooking so if you are looking for country French food this is not the place. However if personal, comfortable, country luxury is how you would like to see Normandy this is a good choice.

  • We stayed at Château de Beaulieu for one night during a trip to France. It was the best part of the entire trip by far. We took advantage of the tours offered by the owners (Sharon and Eddie) that made the trip even better. Eddie's knowledge of the D-day events really made them come alive for us and Sharon's tour of Mont St Michel was equally as nice. Their knowledge of the area and its history made the trip even more memorable for us. The accommodations at the Château are second to none. The rooms and adjoining bathrooms have been completely renovated and are very relaxing, and the beds are some of the most comfortable we have ever tried. The food was great and the company even better. Eddie and Sharon really made us feel welcomed and at home for our brief stay. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

  • Eddie and Sharon made us very welcome at Château de Beaulieu. They have created a lovely house party atmosphere and could not do enough for us. Our room was very comfortable. The food was delicious, the company excellent. Eddie's tours of the D-Day Landing sites were very good and very informative and Sharon's tour of Mont St Michel and the Scriptorium was fascinating and great fun. We would definitely recommend staying here if you want to explore this area of Normandy. It felt like we were leaving old friends when it came time to leave.

  • Paul and I want to thank you very much for your gracious hospitality while we were visiting with you and being a part in giving us memories of our trip to Normandy that will last a lifetime. Eddie, your knowledge of World War II and your obvious preparation in bringing the events of the day to life made each day we were there more interesting than the last. Sharon, your anecdotes, stories and good cooking also were an integral part in making our vacation a memorable one. It was absolutely great meeting and spending the week with you. The Château is so charming. You have done a beautiful job of rehabilitation on it. You made us feel so welcome.

  • Our family of four stayed here for two nights. Sharon and Eddie were wonderful tour guides and hosts. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. I would say the biggest benefit of staying here is the Parks' knowledge of the area - it was great to tour without the worries of driving and parking. I would say that the Château is probably not the best choice for the casual traveller - their tours are quite detailed and specific to the subject matter. Sharon's food is satisfying and she works hard to accommodate her guest's dietary needs.
